Emma was very young when she fell in love with a man a few years her senior. Quite a few years. Almost a decade. There was something about him that intrigued her. She met him at a club she and her friend at the time had snuck into. She was young and succeptable and he was a complete mystery to her. A few years later (before Henry finds her), the vampires come out of hiding. Her job gets more difficult and, eventually, she finds out that her child's father had not been killed in the drug deal (turned out to be vampire blood) gone wrong that she'd supposedly been involved in as well, but turned...
That's why she lied to Henry. She couldn't bear to tell him that his dad was a vampire. Could hardly believe it herself. When he found out Emma knew what he was, he kept trying to find her, but she kept moving from place to place. It took a while, but he finally found her after she'd been settled in once place for a few months. Storybrooke... Total family reunion. Father reunites with son, son's father reunites with his own Da.
